Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about turning utility bills into solar recommendations with BillToSun.
- Which utility bills does BillToSun support?
- BillToSun is trained on the major Southern California electric providers: SCE (Southern California Edison), LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power), GWP (Glendale Water & Power), and BWP (Burbank Water & Power). It handles both monthly and bi-monthly billing formats and isolates electricity usage from combined water, sewer, and trash statements. More utilities are coming soon.
- How accurate is the bill reading?
- The tool anchors to the exact figures printed on the bill — such as the total electricity used and average daily kWh — rather than estimating. The same bill always returns the same numbers, so your quotes stay consistent.
- How long does an analysis take?
- Most bills are analyzed in under ten seconds, so you can get a solar recommendation while you're still in the appointment.
- What does the solar recommendation include?
- You get the recommended system size in kilowatts, panel count, estimated annual production, financing and savings estimates, battery storage sizing, and net-metering (NEM) guidance.
- Is my customer's data safe?
- Yes. Raw bill documents are deleted after processing — only the structured energy data needed for the recommendation is stored.
- Do I need any special equipment?
- No. A phone camera or a PDF upload is all you need. BillToSun runs in your browser.
